Pride Series - Denise Bowker

Pride Series - Denise Bowker

Pride Series Day 22 we talk to Denise Bowker a trans woman from Chicago. Denise defines herself by what and how she treats others and not by the job she does. Her priority in life is to be good to others, help them when she can and be kind to herself. Being transgender is one of the least interesting things about her. Sure, it's a big part of her but what she’s learned over the past few years is to those around her, she’s just Denise.

Introduction

Trans inclusion in Pride events is happening more and more every year. In the beginning, other LGBTQ people forgot about the “T” and tended to exclude them from celebrating all that we have fought for. Despite the beginning, we see the landscape changing across the U.S. and the world. Transgender equity is something we need to make sure we as a community are focusing on because if we can’t do it as a community how can we expect the rest of the population to get on board.
