Pride Series - Emma

Pride Series - Emma

Pride Series Day 20 we talk to Emma from the UK. Emma is a 51 year old trans woman from the UK. sHE began her transition 4 1/2 years ago and has been on medication for a little over 3 years. Growing up she knew she  was not right from the age of about 7. Back then they didn't have the internet & gender issues were something not discussed at all and Emma could find no information on.  So she went along with society's rules & lived in the wrong role, but after her mother passed away, closely followed by her father, then her sister, she had to begin the journey in becoming her true self & she hasn’t looked back since.

Introduction

Using the restroom is something that every person including trans people do on a regular basis. It is something our bodies do naturally. Did you know that a lot of trans people don’t use the restroom except when they are home? The idea of not using the bathroom at work, going out on the town, or anywhere that isn’t your home probably blows some cis people’s minds. A lot of trans people don’t feel safe using the bathroom for the gender to which they identify, due to the fear of many reasons one being verbal or physical abuse. So remember people simply want to go to the bathroom, so let them pee in peace.
